There are so many resources out there when it comes to college applications and prep. Here are the ones I point students to most.

College search sites

We will spend considerable time together building a college list, primarily using Guided Path, our shared planning software. However, the sites below are great additional resources.

College Board’s website has tabs for college searches, career resources, and tips for getting in.  

Financial Aid & Scholarships

Released October 1 each year, families will need to fill out the FAFSA to be considered for federal, state and institutional need-based financial aid.

This is my favorite resource for up-to-date information on how to pay for college. 

The Denver Scholarship Foundation inspires and empowers students of Denver Public Schools to enroll in and graduate from postsecondary institutions of higher education, by providing the tools, knowledge, and financial resources essential for success.

The leading online resource in finding scholarships to help you pay for school, this tool helps you find scholarships just for you based on your strengths, interests, and skills.

 

Another scholarship search tool that uses key words to help you find scholarships specific to your needs and skill set.  

Standardized Testing

SAT, Subject Tests, AP tests. For SAT registration, sending your scores to colleges and tracking those scores if you take multiple tests. Remember your password!

ACT

For ACT registration, sending your scores to colleges and tracking those scores if you take multiple tests. Remember your password!

Today, more colleges and universities are announcing test-optional admissions policies. check here to see if your schools are on the list!

Frequently Used Applications

The ability to apply to multiple schools under a single application has never been easier. Here are a few that are often used by College Ascent clients:

Over 900 schools and universities use the Common Application.

Start your application as early as ninth grade to get a head start. Then apply to any of the 150+ Coalition member schools, easily and efficiently. Remember, Coalition schools are committed to making college affordable and helping you find success.

Designed to simplify the application process for both Texas students and non-Texas students, ApplyTexas allows students to apply to several community colleges, universities, and even graduate school all in one place.

This application applies to the 9 major campuses in the University of California university system.
